I Hate Presents
The joy in both giving and receiving has all drained away. There isn't much love for presents left in me. One year i found the perfect christmas gift for a friend. It didn't go well wen she gave it to her. That was my introduction to how the demand for gratitude becomes its own tool of abuse. I have counted hours and days and weeks for an acknowledgment of a gift that i thought was a show stopper. And of course, at the same time, i've failed to say thank yous of my own and resented the burden of gratitude placed on me by others.
