The Origins of Bannock
Bannock is a traditional style bread that many Indigenous people have variations of both in the US and in Canada. Bannock ingredients are basically the same: flour, water, milk, lard, or butter, baking powder, and salt. There are some reports of indigenous people on the west coast making something similar with a Casma bulb,. The Casma bulb would be earth roasted for a long period of time and then dried into cakes.
