In college and grad school I would do my PhD thesis on Heidegger who's often read as an existentialist especially his being in time which was published in 1927. If you assume that you're going to live to be 100 or 120 instead of 70 or 80 does that calculus change the way that you relate to the projects that you undertake? That looming deadline whether we're thinking about it explicitly or implicitly colors entirely the way we think about the stage that we're supposed to be at.
