For most musicians the best way to learn how to play well is to listen to plenty of music and to practice every day. When I first learned to play the drums I became obsessed with listening to my favorite drummers who were at the time Mitch Mitchell from the Jimmy Hendrix experience, Stuart Copeland from the police and Ringo Starr from The Beatles Of course. So but I think listening probably comes first. Then it's a question of practice, practice, practice,. practice, practice... And trying to replicate what you're hearing. But first you have to get to know what music can sound like and to hear the way it's produced.
