Why Is Diesel Clear?

With most hydrocarbon liquids, such as petrol, they add a dye to tell what grade it is. I'm guessing that with diesel, when you say you look at it, it's a totally transparent, like water. It doesn't have a... Okay, I guess I haven't added something to it, but maybe the smell is enough. Dr Carl will find out why diesel is clear next week.
