The Hinman Emails Reveal a Confused State at the SEC
The much-hyped documents disclosed a series of internal comments at the SEC regarding a speech made by former director of corporate finance Bill Hinman. The speech spoke about how cryptocurrencies can become decentralized and therefore no longer appropriate to regulate as securities. Some in the community even assumed the documents contained some sort of smoking gun showing SEC bias in favor of giving Ethereum a free pass on securities enforcement.
