The Fed's Approach to the Market

The attitude of the people at the Fed was sort of accepted you might say well they found out that the dollar had gotten away from them and they needed to put a stop to that. There certainly were questions particularly as the market developed the new financial technique of the floating rates indicated loan in the late 60s. The big test of that came in 1974 when a smallish not not too small a long island bank about the 20th size in the country five billion dollar bank got into trouble it got into trouble doing foreign exchange.
