What Is It About Hubble's Expansion?

In 19 29 Edwin hubble and others discovered that galaxies far away are moving away from us. The farther away a galaxy is, the faster it is moving. If we looked back in the past, then galaxies would have been closer together. So studying to day's expansion of the universe doesn't just tell us about to day. It tells us about the universe's origin and where it's headed.
