I think there is some performance gain for if you're dealing with primitives on the j v m, to not box them. Soye: Rarely is your business value derived from summing a bunch of doubles quickly. And especially when you get into scaling to many, many cores, for instance, eight or more, you start to see much larger gains. When boxing things, asking the garbage collector to allicate a hole bunch of memory, it just causes things not to scale as well as you think they should, right?
