Have you had the courageous conversation with that individual to let them know that their performance is not at the level it needs to be? Do they understand the expectations and have they been given a chance to meet them? Maybe it's around their technical acumen and ability. Have you given them access to the training and the tools and the support that they need to deliver on the work that you've given them? If not, provide them with those tools. Give them deadlines. Give them challenges to come and meet and show you that they're learning fast. Let's be human, right? Are we aware of what's going on in their life and have we considered that? It doesn't mean that
