Whitfield's Reticence Concerning the Future of Princeton University

No one on the University of Pennsylvania campus has any idea who George Whitfield is. He didn't really have anyone around him saying, don't you know that slavery is immoral? So as a man of this time, he became complicit, became a slave owner and didn't even free his slaves at his death. I'm a great admirer of Whitfield, but I felt like I needed to really dig into that issue and not try to paper it over.
