Bats Use Ultra Sound to Catch Insects and Moths

Bats use ultra sound to find their way round and to catch insects. They become so good at it, partly because they don't want to bump into obstacles. Moths have ears which appear to be tuned only to hear bats. If they hear anything at all, it's a bat, and they take evasive action. And the speed with which the er pulses of the bat come out is like a machine gun. When they are pursuing a moth or another insect, it speeds as much as 50 times a second.
