The Tradeoff Between Commercial Pressure and Safety
Microsoft recently pushing pushing it had quite hard to release this Bing chat, large language model, chop out really freaked out alphabet. I do think the big question though is how severe of a safety trade off can you actually reasonably expect commercial pressure to cause? So I think this sort of thing for sure can happen and we've seen it happen. But as an extreme thing, something I don't think is going to happen is imagine that there's a future AI system, it's GPT-7 or something. And then the people developing it are like, okay, if we release this, then we gain a sort of great market monopoly, there's a 50% chance if we release it
