In the past, for about 45 years, Israel has had something close to effectively a two-party system. Today, Netanyahu is seen as cynically inciting different types of Israelis against each other. The center left leadership has more or less placed its entire personal and political credibility on the boycott of Netanyahu. And that places him totally at the mercy of extreme religious and extremist parties.
