I think that a lot of generic security principles apply, like you mentioned, turn off public access. Try to track every single step that you're doing and remember that every part of this is a security boundary that you need to take care of. One of the things I always bothered me with the DevOps as a movement was the name because we tend to speak at DevOps. And then someone started doing, oh, we need to do DevSecOps. It's just, it's mind-blowingly dumb when you ended up building new walls instead of tearing down the old ones.
