The 11-Year Cycle of Activity on the Sun
The sun has a 11-year cycle of activity. It's actually a 22-year cycle because it goes from north, south, south, north, north. Now at the moment, the sun is quite quiet. We have very little... Should we be thankful for that? Yeah, we should at the moment. I don't have to worry about it today anyway. Although there is a little active region going around - so don't get too complacency. But when there's a lot of sunspots, then we can have a lot of activity on the sun. This includes explosions causing these solar flares and this coronal mass ejection.
