I don't know enough about Canadian indigenous people but I know a fair amount about indigenous people in the United States and it doesn't sound like they're life ways to go into a mass overkill. There's a whole set of restraining mechanisms in almost every indigenous culture that would have made that a near impossibility. They didn't kill everything in their sights in Eurasia during the ice age so why would they all of a sudden switch in there? It happened when they crossed the very land bridge into North America.
