Of all the developed nations, the united states is also by far the most religious. The kind of religion that tends to predominate is pretty traditional in the sense that we want to qualify for heaven after we die. And it does tend to sort of take some of the responsibility away from us. It's not simply about switching to re cycling or renewable sources of energy. It goes much deeper to raise very fundamental s about the whole orientation we have toward indefinite growth and consumerism.
The first guest on Emerge is author, philosopher and activist David Loy. David and I first met at the Occupy Boulder General Assembly and our relationship grew from there. David work sits at the intersection of contemplative wisdom and social justice, making him a perfect first guest for Emerge.
