Macbeth Review - Bathos

Bathos is the idea that we bring everything down to a very basic ordinary level, so we have tragedy. The new book essentially starts with a shipment of heroin, and there's gunfire and all sorts of stuff. I love the minutiae of what Joyce has just been watching on television - then someone comes in with a gun. That I find fun to write, and I think people find that fun to read. And you also, intentionally or otherwise, reveal something about you, particularly in the narration when you're the impersonal narrator. Let me throw one more at you. We've got Carlito, the minimus driver. Yes. It turned out not to have a definition
