Stalin's Domestic Policy and the Second World War
During the 1930s, Joseph Stalin grew increasingly insecure and paranoid in his position. He feared that factions of the Communist Party and army were conspiring or plotting against him. From 1936 to 1939, 93 of the Communist party's 139 central committee members were killed. 81 of Stalin's 103 generals and admirals were executed. In the first five year plan alone, its estimated that up to 8 million people died. And for those simply sent away, it's thought that around 750,000 people were killed.
