Triangulation of evidence is an approach to research that draws on three different types of studies, like points of a triangle. Each one could be biased, but the fact that one's biased would not influence the result heu would obtain from the other study. People are very strongly committed to hypotheses that they've put forward or notions they've put through in the vey. Except in medicine, the stakes of publishing sub par research are higher.
