Schopenhauer saw himself as a Buddhaist and believed that this was, you know, not only compatible with the work of Plato and Kant, but also Eastern philosophy and religion. That's why Nietzsche probably wavered between Brahmanic and Buddhistic because Schopenhauer draws on both. And so that might be the place where it might be confusing and maybe that Kaufman got confused and it certainly confused me.
