The Domesticated Goat
The moflon is a candidate for the wild ancestor of the domestic sheep in the fertile crescent. It does not have an aggressive tendency compared to other animals, and would have naturally avoided predation by staying close to its herd. A trained dog may very well have had the speed required to keep the herd together. And we all know that the domestic dog has a desire to please its owner. To this very day, the moflon traditionally has a short haired, dark brown coat - which isn't particularly useful for knitting woolly jumpers.
