I learned about all this from the work of Dave McGowan, the late author and researcher. He put out a book in 2014 called Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon. This was based on his many years of research into the Laurel Canyon district in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. And how this neighborhood attracted artists from all over the United States and further afield Canada and even the UK. It is and it tells us so much about a very consistent dynamic that's been in place in the industry since day one.
