Is There a Social Function of Metacognition?
I think there's is very interesting and important to think about the fact that medical cognition might not be an unalloyed good here, right? So that in some cases, maybe we don't want more self awareness and there's an ethical dimension to this. But you know, there's certainly earlier stages of disease than there does seem to be a sound rationale for trying to enable people to have the tools that they might need to adapt to change in say cognitive or memory function. You're probably right. I'm just saying I'm coming more and more around to your notion that social aspects that there's a social functioning of metacognition.
