The Road, a Pro Style Novel

The prose is very minimalistic. It's a pro style that very much mirrors the burnt out, post apocalyptic world through which the father and son wonder. We are reading a world that exists in the wake of a nuclear winter. Were we the ones, and will we be the ones, who are responsible for our own destruction? Do we bring it upon ourselves? And so total bleakness, total despair, total hopelessness, total meaningless ness, would be impossible as a concept and a reality unless there was the opposite, the contrary, still in existence,. otherwise it would be a different thing.
