The Importance of Legal Certitude in Seabed Mining
There's a lot of really valuable resources in the ocean. When it comes to fish a disputed area might benefit fishers because they can say well I thought this was the area where we could catch fish but when it comes to oil and gas drilling or seabed mining the resources are in one place. So there's more of an incentive to resolve disputed claims with seabed resources. If you want to do seabedmining out there you have to go through this intergovernmental organization the international seabed authority.
