The Twinkling of the Stars
Most of the twinkling in stars is due to our atmosphere. This fuzzes out one star that might be next to another one. It makes it harder to observe things in space and get really, really crisp imagesy. Now ground based astronomy has come up with some clever techniques to try to overcome these limitations. These are called adaptive optics - they constantly move the mirrors to correct for the twinkled.
