The Fed's Weekly Balance Sheet, Here Comes the Losses
The Fed's weekly balance sheet, I only just learned this, which is a bit humbling. It went down by negative one and a half billion over the week ending in September 28. That suggests as we've all anticipated that the Fed's interest expense has risen above its interest income. They probably made losses on their holding of foreign currency. But nevertheless, we appear to be now at the point where the Fed is beginning to make actual operating losses.
