John and Abigail waited until John was almost 30 to get married, if I'm remembering my dates correct. She had seen a lot of other people make this mistake and it did cause a lot of stress and pressure. He wisely married in England, his parents couldn't attend. Louisa Johnson never really warmed to her. And you get a sense that he stood between her and Abigails.
