Introduction
After years of brutal repression, the talaban have been forced from power in afghanistan. It's been a particularly dark time for women who have been totally excluded from public life. Women are being allowed to do things banned by the talaban regime over the last five years and life is slowly getting back to normal. The streets are full of women enjoying the freedom to walk on their own, unaccompanied by a man. Professional women are returning to their jobs without the prospect of being hastled or stopped.
