Pat Hurley and the Rise and Fall of Hurley

Pat O'Connell was one of the two surfers featured in Bruce Brown's Endless Summer 2. His main sponsor, while he was on tour, was Hurley, which had recently been purchased by Nike. When Pat retired from pro surfing in 2004, Bob courted Pat to help him run the sports marketing division. In February 2019, after 15 years of wild success at Hurley, John John Florence left the company to join the World Surf League as the SVP of tours and head of competition.
