The Importance of Listening to Your Story
For people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, part of the challenge is we really just don't take the time to listen. And I'm grateful that there are so many accounts given by disabled theologians or disabled advocates these days where people can speak directly to their own story. But it really struck me and it wasn't until pretty late actually in my writing of this book that I recognize that these stories that we tell connect so closely to my own life and my family as well.
