The History of Jewish Conversion
In 1391, as listeners will probably know, there are massacres and forced conversions of Jews across much of the Iberian peninsula. What I found as I started digging deeper into archives in unpublished sources is that there was a steady stream of Jews converting during the 13th and 14th centuries. These include women, these include people of humble means and some wealthy individuals. Many of them were escaping very difficult personal circumstances including bankruptcy and poverty.
