Kahneman's dual process theory is the word used for Kahneman's idea of system one and system two. When you do a pattern type thing, that recognition is one step only. That's partly why it works so fast. If you go through an algorithm, if you go through like, okay, now I carry the one, do this, blah, blah,blah,. that has lots of steps. The patterns are fast.
