When the modern review went belly up in 95, I had already done a couple of pieces for Vanity Fair. Greg looked at me and said, what are you fucking kidding? Looked like a dental catalogue. He was full of kind of cynical, wise-cracking New York humour. And we got on very well, and he commissioned me to do a couple of things. But it was so comfortable being at Vanity Fair.
