The Importance of Imagination in Music Theory

Musical theory involves the intellect, whereas musical practice uses the imagination. People with very powerful imaginations might be able to sit quietly and invent a song within their souls while others need props to help them compose. A number of authors expound the notion that ethics is like medicine, or rather is medicine which aims at treating souls rather than bodies. We'll also look at ethical writings by two familiar figures, Arazi and Imnadi, and introduce a new thinker who will take us up to the time of Avicenna.
