Guthrie, Oklahoma became the fastest growing city in American history. It was called after a Kansas cattle baron, Guthrie, he was obviously a Scotsman. At 6am on the morning of the 22nd of April, 1889, Guthrie's population was zero. And it was briefly the state capital until the people that lived somewhat to the south, you know, Oklahoma City got somewhat childish about it and said, no, we want to be capital. They stole the state crest from Guthrie and Guthrie slumped into dishewitude.
