Is Wong Jing the Yin and the Yang of Chinese Cinema?
Wang jing is an artist of sorts, by which i mean he has authored a career like no other. He makes exactly the kinds of movies that he apparently wants. There's a lot of his personality in all his movies, even the ones that he didn't really direct. A wonging touch is out of nowhere. Forty minutes into a film, a character will suddenly have an eternal monologue to setup joke. Many of them have bathroom humor. They're both on the same level.
