When i was initially teaching it, i would show people the techniqe in about 15 minutes. It wouldn't stick because i didn't understand how to customize the folders and under the rules that went along with it. The key is you want to have a succinct set of action folders to put your emales into based on the type of job that you're doing. And so then when you're in the folder, you're primed to take action. Even if you decide that you're not going to take action that day, it's ok. You still don't have to go through those first three steps.
