Maimonides' Argument for Creation
Maimonides says that if the physical universe is not eternal, it has been caused by an immaterial-first cause. If God's existence and immateriality can be shown even in this way, then it must really be proven beyond all doubt he writes. He goes through numerous arguments in favor of the world's eternity and rejects them all. The ability to create from nothing "is a distinctive feature of divine causation"
