In Excel, probably the most common way to do that is the VLOOKUP. And then also, I'm sure a lot of people in Excel will do just the cut and paste. But pandas merging of data is much more like the SQL approach where you can do a left join or a right join and inner and outer joins. So it's really powerful to do that.
