What's the Attitude of the Investment Banks in the Interest Rate Environment?

People say when interest rates go up, you got to buy the banks and banks do well because they make more money. To what degree is that true? I know you spent a lot of the 2010s working inside a bank when interest rates were basically zero. What was the attitude towards profitability like? Specifically, we're loans being made that just weren't profitable. You still look for loan growth, but you get really particular about fee income and cutting in that environment.
