How to Measure Optimism in a Stock
The leader from 10 years before the period you're measuring is not the leaders in the 10 years after. Sometimes we say like the PE was pretty high, which might make you think people are positive on the stock,. But we don't know that because we don't have on the data what was the keger in the years before. And I think using lots of other measures besides earnings will be helpful. It doesn't bother me that a company is trading at 100 times earnings today or something. It does bother me that's trading at 20 times sales in a lot of these cases.
