How to Design a Successful Interface

I don't think I could bucket all of interface design in the fashion layer because there's different parts of interface design that move faster than others. So it would be interesting to maybe talk about it from that lens. Like, here are the things that we should slot into these slower moving layers and we shouldn't try to handle them as faster moving things. It makes me wonder, because you could spend very little time on a design system,. for example, as sort of a foundational layer and design system people would say, oh, that's bad, but you don't necessarily need to. You could then design a successful interface without thinking much about that if your interface is less complicated.
