We see a couple of cutaways like parenthetical, flashback-y things that has been a character in this show from the beginning. It felt good to have a sort of signature device. One thing I'm very thankful for is that we never broke the fourth wall. That whole kind of look at the camera thing would have taken a little bit of the legitimacy of the cop work and all that stuff.
