The Problem With Gun Trace Requests

There's a whole cadre of what we call straw purchasers, people who make a living off of buying guns from gun stores and then selling them illegally to others. They can't be stopped because of a series of laws and riders lobbied for by the gun lobby and passed mostly by Republican members of Congress. Gun stores around the area, in state and out, either knowingly or unknowingly but in most cases probably help facilitate those sales. No doubt many of these gun stores go even further, selling weapons under the table, which can't be discovered because they're not required to keep an inventory.
