Park's Journey Down the Niger

On September 25, Motobim returned and gave Park the go-ahead. Mansan would grant him his protection through the lands of Balbara,. He also said that Mansan would provide Park with canoes to navigate the river. After working for 18 days to repair the boat, Park launched the newly christened HMS Joliba on October 28th. On November 19th, he wrote to his wife, quote, I do not intend to stop nor land anywhere. By mid-November, the Joliba was ready to sail down the Niger, the boat, and the river were the way back home.
