The Paradox of Coaching
There is a real value for coaching in many ways. In medieval craft tools, apprentices do all the dirty jobs and make lots of mistakes before they're deemed competent enough to walk tables. And coaches don't get this - they tend to be either a coach or something else. The best coaches are often not the best players but those who have had to think harder about their role than others.
