Bella Hazan was taken in by American forces, liberating her from Nazi captivity for good. The Allies declared victory in Europe on the 8th of May 1945. Hazan married a newspaper editor, Hayim Yari and they decided to move to Palestine. Many Jewish settlers were Holocaust survivors and were traumatized by what they had been through.
